Tilac announces itself on Soi Cowboy in a wash of electric-blue neon — the letters tall and cool against a wall of colored discs that catch every flash of pink and purple from the strip. Out front, chrome stools and low tables spill onto the walkway; by night the seats fill with a mixed foreign crowd working drinks under the glow while football flickers on the screens behind the bar. This is classic Cowboy energy: short, loud, tourist-heavy, shoulder-to-shoulder with the rest of the gogo strip in Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana. You come for the stage-and-stool ritual of a Bangkok gogo bar — open front, body heat, conversation that starts at the rail and ends however the night decides. Incall only, so the night stays inside the neon envelope of the soi rather than roaming the city. don’t come here. went there with my boyfriend to pregame for a night of bar hopping and was groped and fondled. i repeatedly told the girl “no” and she pretended to not understand. she showed us pictures of dead mother and daughter (odd). then she and another girl proceeded to run our bill up ordering themselves shots and drinks off our tab. the original girl and the new girl both kept encouraging us to drink more and more.. which i understand to an extent. they are trained to get as much money for the bar as possible, but it just felt so predatory considering they kept trying touch us or get us to kiss them. when we closed out the manager gave us back our change then got upset when we didn’t want to tip after literally being harassed by her employees… i’m never coming back. my night was absolutely ruined here.

This is one of the larger gogo bars in soi Cowboy. Service is good. If you're into this sort of thing then it's worth your visit.

I walked into Tilac expecting a fun night and maybe a cold drink. Instead, i got an unexpected live performance called "The Advanced Mathematics of Lady Drinks." A woman came over acting like we were old friends reunited after years apart. Very warm. Very charming. Very efficient. Within minutes, i realized this was not romance, this was a well-organized financial operation. We agreed on one drink price, but somehow the bill went to university level accounting. A 200 baht drink turned into 400 baht by what i can only assume was magic, creative writing, or a backstage promotion i was not informed about. Then another drink appeared on the bill like a surprise guest star, despite never properly arriving at the table. So basically, i came for nightlife and got a crash course in illusion, negotiation, and fiction. The place itself has energy, lights, and all the usual bar atmosphere. But if the billing system is more entertaining than the actual night, that is not a good sign. Recommended only if you enjoy: confusing drink prices, uninvited bill upgrades, and feeling like the punchline of someone else's joke. I left with less money, less trust, and a stronger relationship with checking the bill line by line. 1 star for the neon. 0 stars for the honesty.

Absolutely unforgettable! Thanks to The Hangover 2, Tilac Bar in Soi Cowboy was at the top of our list – and it did not disappoint. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was just perfect for a night out. Meeting the owner, who kindly allowed us to take pictures inside, was a real highlight and such an honour. If you’re looking for a fun, lively nightlife experience in Bangkok, Tilac Bar is an absolute must-visit.
