Smile Bar sits inside Ao Nang’s Central Point — the neon-lit pocket of Mueang Krabi where beach days slow into warm nights. Under purple Cairo Nights signage and a yellow-lit stair, high stools line long communal tables while the plaza fills with the easy mix of travelers and locals who wash up here after the sand cools. Inside, the mood is cheeky and unhurried: a blue painted-brick wall stacked with vintage cocktail tin signs, a chalkboard that swings from fish and chips and meat pies to panang and Thai green curry, Chang and draught within arm’s reach. Plates leave the kitchen looking like the ones on the table — glossy prawns tangled with peppers and spring onion, or a mound of fried noodles with lime and a pinch of chili. By day the surrounding strip feels like open-air food court under corrugated roof; after dark it turns into the kind of place you stay for one more round because the light is soft, the crowd is loose, and nobody is in a hurry to leave.
