Smile Bar는 아오낭의 Central Point 안에 있다. 끄라비 무앙의 네온이 켜진 한구석으로, 해변의 낮이 따뜻한 밤으로 천천히 풀리는 곳이다. 보라색 Cairo Nights 간판과 노란 불빛이 비친 계단 아래로 높은 스툴이 긴 공용 테이블을 따라 늘어서고, 모래가 식은 뒤 이곳으로 흘러든 여행자와 현지인이 편하게 섞여 광장을 채운다. 안의 분위기는 장난기 있고 서두르지 않는다. 파랗게 칠한 벽돌 벽에는 빈티지 칵테일 양철 간판이 겹쳐 걸려 있고, 칠판은 피시 앤 칩스와 미트파이에서 파낭과 태국식 그린 커리로 바뀐다. Chang과 생맥주는 팔 닿는 곳에 있다. 주방을 떠난 접시는 테이블 위 접시와 같은 모습이다. 윤기 나는 새우가 피망과 쪽파에 엉켜 있거나, 라임과 고추 한 꼬집을 곁들인 볶음면이 수북이 쌓여 있다. 낮에는 주변 거리가 골판 지붕 아래 노천 푸드코트처럼 느껴진다. 어두워지면 한 잔 더 머물게 되는 곳이 된다. 빛이 부드럽고, 사람들이 느슨하고, 아무도 떠나기를 서두르지 않기 때문이다. 인콜이고, 부담이 낮고, 분명 아오낭답다.
